Xiaomi fans rejoice, as the Chinese company has just announced a new MIUI global beta ROM, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, is now available for download for a handful of smartphones.

Last week, Xiaomi released the Chinese MIUI 7 ROM for Mi 3 and Mi 4, but those with global ROMs have been skipped from the initial rollout. Xiaomi confirmed, though, that it would launch the global version of MIUI as fast as possible.

True to its promise, Xiaomi announced today that MIUI 6.3.17 global beta ROM is now available for download for Mi 3, Mi 4 and Mi Note owners.

Keep in mind, though, that if you’re on older versions before MIUI 5.12.17, you will first have to update to 5.12.17. Xiaomi also announced some of the most important new features and improvements it added in MIUI 6.3.17, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Many new features, optimizations and bug fixes

For example, Xiaomi added the account lock feature after flashing phone in Mi Cloud. There’s also a new Permission Manager that allows users to manage permissions to create home screen shortcuts, as well as restrict all apps’ access to a specific permission with just a touch.

Xiaomi also added card design for Explorer, along with shortcuts to downloads and hidden folders in Explorer. Device-to-device wireless transfer should be available too.

When it comes to optimization, Xiaomi provides accessibility voice-over for SIM 1 and SIM 2, and voice-over for keypad. Users will also be able to send contacts’ name in card style.

Lots of bug fixes have been implemented like texts in input box that could not be seen when sending a message, but also a fix for recipients that exceeded one line so that the upper and lower parts might get cut.

There are a lot more changes included in MIUI 6.3.17, based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, so don’t forget to check out the full post on Xiaomi’s official forum.
