Windows 10 Mobile is projected to debut next month and Microsoft’s working at full speed to get the operating system ready in the remaining weeks, so insiders are expected to receive several new testing builds in the meantime.

Today, the company pushed a new update to devices running Windows 10 Mobile build 10536, which could actually be a sign that the Windows team is getting ready for a new release that might see daylight in the coming days.

Codenamed “Insider Fast configuration update,” today’s patch is only delivered to testers enrolled in the fast ring and most likely includes only bug fixes and performance improvements.

New builds released at a faster pace

What’s interesting is that Microsoft still brings out new Windows 10 Mobile builds at a rather slow pace, which is really odd given the fact that the company promised to focus more on the smartphone version of the operating system once the PC sibling sees daylight.

This actually happened on July 29, but since then, Microsoft pushed only 2 different Windows 10 Mobile builds to insiders, which makes many wonder whether the development process goes fast enough to be completed before October when the OS should become available for everyone.

Most likely, Microsoft is now working to finalize another build and Gabe Aul, chief of the Windows Insider program, confirmed recently that a new version was tested by their internal rings. An ETA is not yet available, but expect it to land for the fast ring either this or the next week.

Windows 10 Mobile will make its first public appearance on the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL on October 6, but all devices are expected to get the final bits sometime later the same month or in early November, but timing depends on how smoothly development process goes.
