After updating Facebook Beta for Windows Phone and Skype on iOS platform, Microsoft announced that three Office apps received new versions in Google Play Store.

Word, Excel and PowerPoint have been updated on Android platform with new features and improvements. Some of the changes are common to two of more of these apps, while others are only available to one of the Office apps.

For example, Word and Excel share the reduced app size improvement, which resulted in a 40 percent reduction in app size, so these apps are now lighter and faster to install.

Furthermore, all three applications, Word, Excel and PowerPoint now comply with Android for Work and support Android M for Enterprise.

According to developers, the update should make it easier for users to sign-in to any of the three Office apps, since selecting the sign-in details has been made simpler than ever before.

Last but not least, all three Office apps now feature cloud font support, so users can download their favorite font from the cloud and write with the fonts they like.

Presenter view now available for PowerPoint users

On top of that, Excel for Android features improved file compatibility, so users can now open files with Read-only recommended and Formula view.

Microsoft also added presenter view to PowerPoint for Android, but this feature requires Office 365 subscription. With the new presenter view, users will be able to check speaker notes on their phone/tablet, but control what the audience see when they project to a large screen.

You can now download Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Android for free via Google Play Store. All three apps should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.4 and up.

Keep in mind that Android Marshmallow devices are not yet supported and that these apps work with smartphones and tablets that pack at least 1GB of RAM.
