“We're going forward from here,” the company says

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 101512 to insiders a few hours ago, and Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, has provided us with a few more details about the company's plans for the next few months as far as its smartphone platform is concerned.

Aul has explained that Windows 10 Mobile builds are projected to be shipped at a much faster pace than before, pointing out that the whole Windows team was busy with the release of the PC version.

Now that this version is already on the market, part of the team can switch to the mobile version, so the next couple of months could bring us several new builds.

“I expect the builds to be out more frequently again as we go forward from here. Our major focus on Windows 10 Mobile right now is on improvements to core quality,” Aul says.

What's interesting here is that Microsoft is only planning to focus on “improvements to core quality,” which means that build 10152 is very close to the final version in terms of features and apps. Future builds will mostly bring bug fixes, performance improvements, and optimizations, but obviously, expect some new options to be added here and there too.

Debut planned for October

The very same thing happened to the PC version of Windows 10 too, as Microsoft initially rolled out builds at a slow pace, but then accelerated the cadence once the operating system reached its maturity.

Once Windows 10 was feature-complete and Microsoft started the bug hunt, it provided new builds to insiders every few days, all of them coming with fixes for more or less critical issues in the operating system.

As far as Windows 10 Mobile is concerned, the release is said to be planned for October, but Microsoft is yet to confirm this. But according to sources, the first phones running Windows 10 Mobile should see daylight in late September, while the OS will get the green light next month.
