The release is likely to start on Patch Tuesday

Threshold 2 is the next big thing happening in the Windows 10 world, with Microsoft reportedly planning to release the update sometime next week, most likely on Patch Tuesday.

But a new report coming via Thurrott.com claims that Microsoft has a goal of finalizing work on Windows 10 Threshold 2 (also known as Fall Update or November Update) sometime this week, before eventually pushing it to all Windows 10 users a few days later.

Previously, it was believed that Microsoft planned to ship a Threshold 2 preview build to insiders for testing purposes. Thus, the company is either targeting a new build release later this week, or it decided to go directly for the public debut, given the fact that most of the features have already been tested as part of the Windows Insider program.

New features

It’s worth mentioning that, despite the fact that Threshold 2 is a highly anticipated release, it’s not as big as Redstone, the update due in the summer of 2016 that’s supposed to include much more exciting features, such as Edge browser extensions.

On the other hand, Threshold 2 will include a number of new features, such as colored title bars, a new messaging app with Skype integration, several Edge improvements, and other tweaks here and there. Everyone should keep in mind, however, that all these improvements have already been tested by members of the Windows Insider program, so if you’ve already installed preview builds, you won’t be impressed when Threshold 2 comes out.

But in addition, Microsoft is also expected to release some other performance enhancements and bug fixes, so the stability of the operating system should be significantly improved.

Threshold 2 is projected to debut on November 10, which kind of makes sense, taking into account the fact that it’s Patch Tuesday and this is the right moment to release updates for computers running Microsoft software.
