Microsoft support engineer confirms the release date

Microsoft is set to launch a significant Windows 10 update sometime in the next few weeks, but while the company remains completely tight-lipped on the debut date, a support engineer has provided us with more information on when exactly this new release could take place.

Microsoft support engineer Ashish Sondhi has confirmed in a post on the company’s community forums (via WinBeta and Sumit Dhiman) that Windows 10 November update (also called Threshold 2 or Fall Update) is projected to launch on November 10 and will also bring support for Cortana in India.

Details are very scarce right now, and Microsoft hasn’t yet confirmed that the November 10 date is accurate, so take it with a pinch of salt until more information is provided.

Final build for insiders

And yet, November 10 might seem a little bit too soon for the new update, as Microsoft is believed to be planning a new build for insiders that would allow them to test Threshold 2 before it’s being pushed to all users currently running Windows 10.

That was, in fact, one of the reasons a small delay took place because the November update was originally planned to launch in the first week of this month. The company has, however, decided to provide members of the Windows Insider program with one last build before it presses the go-ahead button.

Windows 10 Threshold 2 won’t bring too many breaking changes, but it will include the new Skype-based messaging app, plus a number of other improvements to the operating system as a whole and for Edge browser.

Most of the new options included in this update have already been introduced in preview builds, so if you’re already an insider, Threshold 2 won’t be very exciting. On the other hand, those who are still running build 10240, which is generally referred to as RTM, will have several goodies to explore after getting this very first major Windows 10 update.
