UserVoice thread now closed and votes are no longer allowed

Microsoft announced in November that it planned to remove the unlimited storage offer from OneDrive and reduce the amount of free space for current and new users from 15 GB to just 5 GB, but after the public backlash, the company made some adjustments to this change.

Users can now keep their 15 GB of storage space if they claim it, but that’s clearly not good enough for many loyal customers who continue to express their disappointment online.

And what better place to show your frustration towards this decision if not the UserVoice thread that received more than 72,000 votes in just 4 weeks?

But it turns out that Microsoft has actually closed this UserVoice suggestion thread and votes are no longer allowed, which means that the company has already made a definitive decision and is no longer willing to change anything about it.

Users have, of course, reacted immediately:

“What's the point of having user feedback when you ignore it and delete 70,000 votes?” Microsoft user Dan posted in the same thread. Note that while voting is no longer possible, posting comments is still allowed.

Claim your free space by end of January

According to the new offer, users who claim their 15 GB of storage space by the end of January can keep them and avoid any cut that Microsoft plans to do (learn here how to keep your 15 GB of OneDrive storage).

“For our biggest fans who have been loyal advocates for OneDrive, we are adding a new offer that lets you keep your existing 15 GB of free storage when the changes happen next year. If you also have the 15 GB camera roll bonus, you’ll be able to keep that as well. From now until the end of January, you can sign up to keep your storage,” Microsoft said.

On the other hand, the unlimited storage option for Office 365 customers is gone and will never come back, the company confirmed.
