Microsoft offers simple way to keep your space

Microsoft has recently announced its decision to reduce the amount of free OneDrive storage space from 15 GB to 5 GB for both existing and new users.

After public backlash, however, the company has decided to give its loyal users a chance to keep their storage space and avoid getting cut to 5 GB by simply clicking on a link and providing their account credentials.

The trick here is that not everyone might be aware of this, and unless they specifically follow the link to keep their 15 GB of storage space, their accounts will be relegated to 5 GB.

How to do it

Basically, all you need to do is click this link and follow the on-screen instructions. If you’re already logged in with your Microsoft account, then everything should be performed automatically once you press the “Keep your free storage” button.

“Thank you for using Microsoft OneDrive. You're an important part of what we do, and we want to make sure you know that. That's why we're making it possible for you to keep your base storage quota and camera roll bonus, even after the changes roll out. Click below and your account will not be affected when the amount of free storage changes from 15 GB to 5 GB and the +15 GB camera roll bonus is discontinued,” the page reads.

It’s very important to note that the offer is only available until January 31, 2016, so you have some two months to do this. In early February, your account will have only 5 GB of storage space, so it’s either this trick to keep 15 GB or less space, which makes a backup of the files stored in cloud absolutely critical.

On the other hand, the unlimited storage offer for Office 365 customers won’t be coming back, and there’s no way to keep it forever right now.
