Redmond squashes more bugs ahead of public launch

As we told you yesterday, Microsoft is working hard to fix as many bugs as possible in Windows 10 Anniversary Update before the public launch in the summer, and build 14352 is living proof that the focus has indeed been switched to improving performance.

Although the latest build also brings along some important feature updates, the bugfixes list contains more than 20 items, including not only patches for crashes but also general usability and reliability improvements.

For example, Microsoft Edge users who experienced rendering issues and browser instability when running the browser on a PC with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 or 2000 GPU should now notice a significant improvement as the company has finally managed to find the cause of the problem and address it in this build.

No more BSODs on the Surface Book

Additionally, Surface Books should no longer get a BSOD when using Windows Hello while laptops with Precision Touchpads should notice a significant improvement when using gestures to switch between virtual desktops.

“We also improved touchpad responsiveness for pans and two finger taps. We also fixed an issue where swiping on the touchpad might not wake the device once it was in Connected Standby state,” Microsoft states.

There are also several small bugfixes, including one that corrects theme settings not being roamed correctly on PCs with the same Microsoft account. Additionally, it’s important to keep in mind that the Action Center no longer displays the unread count when using small icons because there’s not enough room in the taskbar to make everything easy to read.

Overall, Windows 10 build 14352 seems to be one significant step forward towards the release of the public version in July, although we’re pretty sure that more fixes will come in the next weeks. For the moment, only fast ring insiders can get this one, but depending on the received feedback, a slow ring version should land anytime soon.
