14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 preview build for insiders enrolled in the fast ring, but this time, Windows 10 Mobile users seem to be left behind, as an update for smartphones is projected to come at a later date.
Build 14352 is here with several improvements, many of which are expected to make their way to Windows 10 Mobile devices as well, but for the moment, Microsoft needs to hold back the release for smartphones a little bit longer.
New features in build 14352
First and foremost, this new build brings improvements to Cortana, so starting today, the digital assistant can play a song from the entire Groove Music Catalog. Cortana can thus play any song, artist, genre, or playlist, but it appears that this feature is tied to a Groove Music Pass.
What you need to do is use any of the following commands to have Cortana play your music:
“Hey Cortana, play ”
“Hey Cortana, play ”
“Hey Cortana, play my ”
“Hey Cortana, pause”
Additionally, Cortana now supports timer for voice commands, so you can use the personal assistant to remind you of important things to do. This time, the following commands are available:
“Hey Cortana, set a timer for 10 minutes”
“Hey Cortana, how much time is left?”
“Hey Cortana, cancel my timer”
Windows Ink has also received several improvements, including updated Sticky Notes with support for setting Cortana reminders, but also with a compass on the ruler. There are several other Windows Ink refinements, including more polished experience and small changes here and there to improve specific features.
Also starting with this build, the Windows Game bar boasts improved full-screen support, a feature that Microsoft claims was among the most requested. There are six additional titles added to the list of supported games: League of Legends, World of Warcraft, DOTA 2, Battlefield 4, Counterstrike: Global Offensive, and Diablo III.
The Feedback Hub has also been improved with a new feature that shows Microsoft responses while the File Explorer icon has been changed once again, this time, with a little bit more color. Microsoft has also revised the upgrade experience to make the switch to the Enterprise version easier, so all you have to do is enter an Enterprise product key, and everything is performed automatically.
And last but not least, there’s also a new feature called Limited Period Scanning, which works together with third-party antivirus software and helps protect your computer against the latest types of malware.
