Microsoft has finally rolled out a new Windows 10 preview build for insiders in the Slow ring.

Windows 10 build 18342 was originally pushed to Fast ring insiders earlier this month and is now available only for some Slow ring users.

The reason is a gaming issue, which according to Microsoft is encountered on devices set to use the ZH-CN language. Therefore, these devices would be blocked from downloading this build.

“PCs with the base language ZH-CN will not receive this update due to an issue that’s causing many common Chinese games to crash on launch,” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, says.

Earlier this week, Microsoft explains that builds for Slow ring users were suspended because of a bug potentially causing a Green Screen of Death when running games with certain anti-cheat software. The company said it was working with a third-party company, most likely the manufacturer of the anti-cheat product, to release a fix.

Build blocked for some gamers as well

In the announcement today, the software giant explains that users who are running games potentially impacted by the bug won’t receive the update as a safety measure to avoid fatal crashes.

“We’ve also added an upgrade block for users of the most common games that are impacted by the GSOD discussed in the known issues below. If you uninstall the affected games, you can get the update,” Sarkar explained.

It’s not known, however, how many Slow ring users are blocked from getting the new build. Previously, the Windows Insider program chief revealed that many Slow ring users are actually gamers potentially impacted by this bug.

Windows 10 version 1903 is projected to be finalized as soon as the next month, while the public rollout to production devices across the world should kick off in April.
