Shipments started on December 3, as planned, though

An undisclosed issue impacting a number of Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL units manufactured for the UK market forced Microsoft to hold back shipments of some phones, according to reports, but the company has confirmed for us in a statement that deliveries still started on December 3.

Previously, it was believed that shipments of Lumia 950 and 950 XL could be delayed for a few more days, but a Microsoft spokesperson has told us in a mailed statement that there’s no change of date for the UK market.

Just a software issue, Microsoft says

The company representative has however confirmed that there was a “small configuration issue” affecting a batch of phones, but it was rapidly resolved, and everyone can get their phones just as originally planned.

“Deliveries to UK customers who have already placed their order for a new Lumia phone will take place from December 3rd as planned. A minor configuration issue at our manufacturing facility resulted in a slight delay to one batch but was quickly rectified,” the spokesperson has told us.

Both Lumia 950 and 950 XL will be available in the UK not only at Microsoft’s online stores but also at various retailers and on Amazon.co.uk, but it’s not yet clear who else was supposed to receive this faulty batch of phones.

What’s more, Microsoft hasn’t detailed what exactly happened with these devices, so aside from the small configuration issues, there is no other information regarding the problem that could have caused a shipping delay in the United Kingdom.

Previously, it was believed it was a software issue, so given the fact that the problem was spotted while the phones were still at the manufacturing facility, Microsoft most likely had enough time to put them on hold and resolve the issue before any device reached a customer.
