Your Phone is a new application announced by Microsoft at the Build developer conference earlier this year and supposed to bring Android and iPhones in sync with Windows 10 PCs.

Given that Microsoft no longer has its own mobile operating system, it’s critical for the company to keep Android and iOS users connected to Windows 10, and Your Phone is supposed to do this.

With features that would mirror content from a phone to a Windows 10 PC, Your Phone is now in its final stages ahead of public testing, with Microsoft ready to ship it to insiders.

The most recent Windows 10 Redstone 5 build release includes more details in this regard, and Microsoft says that Android users will be the first to try it out.

Android users getting it first

Just like in the Build presentation in May, users will be able to access photos stored on their Android devices, and even drag them directly to Office documents that they are working on in Windows 10.

“Coming soon, we’re bringing the first set of features to Your Phone app for Windows Insiders with an Android device. Snap a pic on your Android, see it on your PC. You can finally stop emailing yourself photos. With Your Phone app, your Android’s most recent photos sync to your PC automatically. Need to add a photo to your presentation? Want to spruce up that selfie with some Windows Ink action? Just drag and drop,” Microsoft explains.

Microsoft will also pin the Your Phone app to the desktop for Android users in an attempt to help it gain more exposure and collect feedback on it. Android 7.0 and newer is required for this feature, and users in China will get similar functionality at a later time.

Your Phone will also be released for iPhones with Continue on PC support, technically enabling users to start browsing on a smartphone and then continue from where they left off on a desktop computer.
