Chinese handset maker Meizu has already confirmed it will unveil its next flagship smartphone on September 23. In fact, the company will launch a completely new line of products called Pro.

The first smartphone in the new series is the Pro 5, which will pack some high-end features. A Go Pro camera will be announced next week as well, and probably some other accessories.

Anyway, Meizu fans who were wondering if the Pro 5 will come with the company's new Flyme 5 OS will probably be disappointed to hear that the handset maker has no intention of putting it on this particular device at launch.

According to GizmoChina, Flyme chief designer Yang Yan confirmed via Weibo that Flyme 5 won't ship with the Meizu Pro 5, as some of us were expecting.

He also stated that the first smartphone to come with Flyme 5 OS will be Meixu MX5, which is likely to be released on the market by the end of the year.

Details about its specs are scarce for the moment

The good news is Meizu Pro 5, as well as other compatible smartphones, will eventually receive Flyme 5 OS as an update later on.

That being said, it looks like the Pro 5 will still run Flyme 4.5 OS right out of the box. Also, the smartphone is said to come equipped with a powerful Exynos 7420 processor, which is included in the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 too.

Word is that Meizu might launch two Pro 5 variants based on the chipset inside. One will run Samsung's Exynos 7420 CPU that we mentioned earlier, while the other one will be powered by MediaTek's Helio X20 deca-core processor.

Either way, the Pro 5 will be a very powerful smartphone that's said to pack either 3GB of 4GB of RAM, along with a more than decent 21-megapixel rear-facing camera.

There's no word on the display apart from the fact that it will measure 5.5-inch. We also know it will come with 32GB of storage, but there's no mention of microSD card slot for memory expansion.
