It looks like Meizu has decided to rebrand its high-end lineup of smartphones, which were usually tagged as MX devices.

The next flagship smartphone to be announced by the Chinese company will be named Meizu Pro 5, according to a new report that we already published last week.

Now it appears that Meizu has already made the new naming scheme official, according to new reports coming directly from China.

The company has already scheduled an event for September 25 where it's expected to launch multiple PRO devices, including a Go Pro camera and the highly anticipated Pro 5 smartphone that leaked last week.

No Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset inside the Pro 5

Little is known about the Go Pro camera that Meizu plans to announce next week, but rumor has it the Pro 5 will be available in China for around 3,000 yuan ($470 / €415) outright. The price may be higher in other countries, though.

Moving on to specs, information about Meizu's Pro 5 flagship smartphone are a bit confusing at the moment, but the latest hearsay suggests there will be multiple versions launched on the market.

For starters, Meizu has stated that the smartphone won't be equipped with a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor inside, instead the Chinese company will be using Samsung's Exynos 742 chipset and MediaTek's deca-core Helio X20 CPU.

This means there will be two versions of the Meizu Pro 5 launched based on the chipset inside. Also, the smartphone is said to pack either 3GB or 4GB of RAM.

It's also expected to feature 32GB of storage, but there's no mention of microSD card slot for memory expansion. Rumor has it the Pro 5 will boast an impressive 21-megapixel rear-facing camera.

Also, the smartphone should sport a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that should support either full HD (1080p) or Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.
