Meizu is one of the top handset makers in China. The company's Android smartphones are among the most popular in the Mainland and sell like hot cakes every time a new one makes its debut on the market.

If you are one of the many Meizu fans who are waiting for the Chinese company to launch a new flagship smartphone, then you will be pleased to know that there are less than two weeks until the big unveiling.

According to a new report, Meizu has already confirmed a new launch event in Beijing, China, for September 23.

The announcement came with a teaser image that has the “Pro 5” name on it, which suggests the next flagship smartphone coming from the Chinese company will be called Meizu Pro 5.

That's quite a surprise since previous rumors claimed the device will be named Meizu MX5 Pro, but it looks like the handset maker plans to refresh its naming scheme for its top-of-the-line family of devices.

No word on pricing and availability yet

Moving on to actual specs, the information we have hasn't been confirmed yet and Meizu might have changed some of the things that have been leaked several weeks ago.

For example, various sources claim the Meizu Pro 5 will boast a large 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display that should support Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

Moreover, the smartphone is likely to be equipped with Samsung's Exynos 7420 powerful processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and at least 16GB of internal memory. There's no telling whether or not Meizu will add a microSD card slot for more storage.

Last but not least, rumor has it Meizu's flagship smartphone will pack an impressive 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording.

Even though it might be announced later this month, Meizu Pro 5 might not be launched on the market until early October.
