Meizu Pro 5 was officially introduced back in September, but the smartphone wasn't preloaded with Flyme OS 5, as previous rumors suggested.

Instead, the Chinese company delivered Flyme OS 5.0, which is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, to Meizu MX5. However, Meizu stated that it needed a few more weeks to tune in Flyme OS 5 for the Pro 5's hardware.

Well, it looks like the company needed more than a month to put together a Flyme OS 5 build for Meizu Pro 5. Unfortunately, this isn't the final version of the OS, so owners of the smartphone shouldn't update if they expect a very smooth experience.

According to Meizu, Flyme OS 5.5.11.15 Beta for Pro 5 is now available for download manually, so if you plan to upgrade, don't expect an OTA (over the air) update because it won't happen.

Also, the Chinese OEM recommends Meizu Pro 5 owners to back up their data before upgrading to this beta version of Flyme OS 5 since this build is not stable.

Only available via manual download

The good news is Flyme OS 5 brings tons of improvements and many new features into the mix. Meizu has already published an official changelog that contains some of the most important additions that come with this beta build.

Among the major ones, Meizu listed a new multitasking list that mimics the card-style of Android, split-screen mode, folders are automatically named, layout optimization, notification manager improvements and many more.

The Settings menu features a new design, which allows for better interaction and offers more functionality. There's even a new Search function with support for both text and voice searches.

Meizu further added “toolbox” application, flashlight support, mirror effect, compass, magnifier. Also, the home screen features a new design too.

The changelog then mentions that the FM Radio feature has a new offline radio function that allows for automatic update of the music library when offline via Wi-Fi connection.

There are a lot more changes included in this Flyme OS 5.0 beta build, so if you own a Meizu Pro 5, make sure to check out the full changelog.
