Last week, Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green separated after 11 years together and 5 as a married couple. Over the weekend, news broke that she had filed the divorce papers, citing “irreconcilable differences,” and now People Magazine is confirming reports that the split came because he wanted her to sacrifice her career for their family.

This was actually a report that started making the rounds as the separation news spread. It claimed that he wanted her to continue as a stay-at-home mom, but she insisted on getting more work, now that her career had finally received a much needed boost.

He wanted more of her time “than she can allow”

People Magazine cites sources close to the actress as saying that this was, in fact, true. After “Transformers,” when her career took a major nosedive, she became a homebody. She married Brian and they had 2 children, and for some time, it seemed as if it was enough to keep her happy.

However, with the first “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” film, it became clear that industry hot-shots were opening up to Megan again, which would eventually translate into more job offers. Her star was on the rise again, and she would spend more time away from home.

Brian didn’t like that, so he asked her to be more present as well, which is when their relationship ended.

“Megan is young and hot and sought after for work, and she is eager to move ahead in her career. Brian wants more of her time than she can allow,” says the pal. “She was overwhelmed with the children and her husband’s expectations, which got in the way of work responsibilities. They had many disagreements and arguments about her time at home, which led to problems.”

The insider continues that Fox was always very career-oriented and she never let Brian think that she would stay out of the spotlight for the rest of her life. Now that her sons are older and she can go back to work full-time, she’s eager to bank on the boost in interest in her, especially since she’s determined to show the world that she’s more than just a pretty face.

Megan’s rise and fall, and rise again

Megan Fox shot to international fame as the hottie in the first “Transformers” film. Rumor online has it that director Michael Bay cast her after he made her wash his car during the audition, so if that’s true, she wasn’t exactly cast because her acting was spectacular.

Over the course of the next year, she would become one of the hottest and most popular women on earth, and such a huge celebrity that not a day went by without at least one piece on her. By the time she became overexposed, she’d already committed the biggest faux-pas possible, by speaking against her employers.

She compared Bay to Hitler on set and said that the “Transformers” films were rubbish. She might have been right on both accounts, but she should have never gone public speaking ill of the director and the movies that launched her.

She was dropped from the franchise, and following an open letter from the “Transformers” crew, she was blacklisted by the industry. In more recent interviews, after she and Bay kissed and made up, Fox would try to make it sound as if her hiatus had been self-imposed because she’d grown tired of the attention.

In reality, she had no other choice but to go away for a few years, because no one wanted to work with her anymore.
