A couple of days ago, word got out that another popular Hollywood couple was heading to Splitsville after 11 years together and 5 as husband and wife: Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox. The rumors are true: the former “Transformers” star has just filed for divorce.

The date of separation is listed as June 15, which means the only part of the split report that didn’t check out was the fact that they had separated months before and were only now taking the final step to make it legal.

No prenup, no problem

In the papers, Fox cites “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of the split and is asking for joint physical and legal custody of the 2 children, Bodhi and Noah, TMZ reports. The actress is represented by famous disso-queen Laura Wasser.

Megan and Brian started dating when she was just 18, and had been on and off until he proposed to her for the second time in 2010. They married one month later, in Hawaii.

Since they had been so much time together before getting married, they didn’t deem it necessary to sign a prenup. This means that, now that they’re divorcing, all the money they both made during their 5-year union will be split in half.

Since she’s been the highest earner since the start, she may have to pay him spousal support, the report notes.

“The likelihood is Megan will end up paying Brian spousal support, partly because of the disparity in income and partly because he’s had medical problems,” TMZ writes. With all that, “the divorce is ‘very amicable,’ to the point they continue to live in the same house.”

Rumors about the cause of the split make the rounds

Since neither Megan not Brian is likely to discuss the details of the split with the press and given that they were, for so long, one of the most solid, popular and good-looking couples in showbiz, reports about what may have led to the breakup of their marriage abound.

One that is gaining traction in the blogosphere is that he was jealous of her career, which eventually took a toll on the marriage.

When they first started dating, Brian was undoubtedly the most famous of the 2, thanks to his role on the TV classic “Beverly Hills 90210.”

However, when Megan was cast in the first “Transformers” film, she became one of the most mediated and appreciated (for her looks, if not for her acting) women in the world. She continued to be that with the second “Transformers” film, before her huge fall from grace in 2009.

Following a series of disrespectful comments about director Michael Bay and about the films that had launched her as a star, even the crew from the second “Transformers” film felt the need to speak out against her. In an open letter that immediately went viral, they blasted her for being unprofessional, ungrateful and dumb as a rock.

Fox’s career took a hit from which she’s just now starting to recover. Still, she’s being given a second chance and seems poised for great things again, and if we’re to believe whispers online, it didn’t sit well with her husband, who imagined she’d be at home, as wife and mother, for the rest of her life.
