The superheroes fever has moved from the big screens to the smaller one, as the gaming industry is now trying to bring the likes of Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, and Spider-Man to gamers. After the sounding success of Insomniac's Spider-Man, Square Enix is now trying to make another game that focuses on the adventures of a group of superheroes.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics, makers of Tomb Raider, Marvel's Avengers brings together Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor as they battle well-known villains in the Marvel universe.

Marvel's Avengers will release simultaneously for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Stadia on May 15, 2020. However, Square Enix has already offered fans a sneak peek at what's to come in the form of a 20-minute demo.

The demo starts at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco, including the reveal of their helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source.

After a catastrophic accident caused by Taskmaster and his army of mercenaries, which results in massive devastation, the Avengers disband. Fast forward five years and all superheroes are outlawed and the world, once again, in peril.

That's the premise of Marvel's Avengers, but the demo shows a big chunk of the combat mechanics and the unique powers of each of the Avengers. First off, if you're a Marvel fan, you'll probably be disappointed to know that neither of the superheroes is portrayed by the movie actors.

Although we haven't played the demo yet, we have a feeling that the game is missing its soul. It's far from being a bad game, but it's just “ok.” Also, it's unlikely that any major changes will happen by the time the game gets released, so what we're seeing these days is probably what we'll get next year.
