14 DAY TRIAL // Mariah Carey has never bothered to shut down reports that she’s a diva, because she knows she’s one. In fact, she’s one of the few celebrities to actually own it publicly, because she sees no shame in asking for a little something extra whenever she inks a new deal: after all, it’s not like she doesn’t work for it.
So, when she signed a new multi-million deal to perform at a club opening in China, she made sure to add all her diva demands after the deal went through, Radar Online reports. She knew she would get her extra, since her boyfriend James Packer is footing the bill.
Mariah performs, asks for the ultimate diva treatment
Packer is opening a new club, called Studio City, in Macau, China, and because he has a direct link to one of the highest rated singers in the world (because he’s sleeping with her), he asked her to perform there on opening night.
Mariah agreed but she charged her usual fee, which, as per the report, is in the several-million-dollars-range. She’s also negotiated the possibility to extend the gig for a few more nights, if the first one goes well - for a price, of course.
Packer, whom Mariah has been dating since the summer, was willing to meet all her financial demands.
“Mariah is charging millions of dollars to perform at this event and, if the first night goes well, she will be booked for a couple more nights,” the insider says. “Mariah loves to spend money on herself and she also loves to spend James’s money. She has told the event people in China that they better be ready for her and she wants only the top of the top suite, service, clothes and more perks. That’s on top of her multi-million dollar deal.”
Mariah, the ultimate diva
As it happens, this is the second diva report about Mariah in under a week. The first one was quite unfavorable to the singer, as it claimed that she was letting her diva demands interfere with her first gig as a movie director.
Mariah is now shooting a Christmas movie for Hallmark, “A Christmas Melody,” but insiders claim that production is proving a drag because she takes several naps a day and hates being woken from them, so shooting has to be scheduled around her.
She’s also late on set and will spend many minutes snapping selfies to post on social media, keeping the entire crew and cast waiting for up to a couple of hours at a time.
The same insiders complained that Mariah was making the movie all about herself and her diva airs, hinting that her directorial debut would turn into a major disaster.
