Video game developer Hanger 13 and publisher Take Two have delivered a new major trailer for their upcoming Mafia 3 and have confirmed that they are planning to launch the new title on October 7 of this year on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the PC, and the Xbox One from Microsoft.

The focus of the One Way Road trailer is on the main character of the coming title, Lincoln Gray, and on his determination to see out his quest to root out and then taken down the Italian mafia in the fictional city of New Bordeaux.

The two companies have offered just a few glimpses of gameplay from Mafia 3 in the new footage, but they provide plenty of cutscenes fragments that show some intriguing graphics and a commitment to delivering drama.

Those who plan on placing a pre-order for the game will be able to get bonuses called the Family Kick-Back, which means they will have access to three exclusive vehicles and weapons that will be lieutenant themed, presumably designed to show the rank that the player has inside the criminal organization he is aiming to take down.

A Deluxe Edition for Mafia 3 is also being introduced, with a price tag of 80 dollars or Euro, and a Limited Collector's Edition, which is offered for 150 dollars or Euro. These come complete with the game and the Season Pass while the fancier version provides you with the soundtrack on vinyl, a collectible art book, prints and more items to be announced soon.

Hangar 13 wants to create a realistic take on the '60s

The development team is aiming to tell a complex story focused on Lincoln Gray, who is of mixed race ancestry and fights in the Vietnam War before returning home, where he has to deal with prejudice and racism.

Mafia 3 takes place in 1968, and the protagonist will have to infiltrate the Italian mafia to take it down from the inside, and the studio says that it will try to mix social commentary with solid open-world gameplay.

Hanger 13 claims that it will offer interesting missions that can be approached from a variety of angles, with players able to use either firepower or stealth to take out enemies, and the cover system used will be designed to encourage a dynamic approach.

It's unclear whether the developers are planning to offer any kind of multiplayer modes in Mafia 3.
