Rockstar might announce it before year's end

It seems that the leaked map said to be linked to a sequel for Red Dead Redemption that has leaked online is real and that the development team at Rockstar is getting ready to make an official announcement about the video game in the coming months.

The information comes from Tech Radar and the publication claims that it has its own source that has taken a look at the image and confirmed that this is a very recent art direction map associated with the new title.

The image initially popped up on the NeoGAF forums and was then taken down and most users questioned its authenticity because there were no clear hints that it was linked to a sequel for Red Dead Redemption.

The new source claims that the coming title will be set before the events of the Redemption narrative and that the new map is set just to the east of the one featured in the previous title in the franchise.

The map suggests that the West is less developed in the coming Red Dead experience, with caravan camps spread through the wilderness and no way for gamers to move from town to town using trains.

New Red Dead Redemption might be linked to Mafia 3

The map features the town of New Bordeaux on the bottom right and that's the same location as the one chosen for the coming third installment in the Mafia series, which will be published by Take Two.

Presumably, an announcement about this new Red Dead Redemption will be made before the end of the year, likely at the E3 2016 event that will take place during June.

Rockstar is known for keeping very quiet about its video game projects until it has a clear idea of the experience that it wants to deliver, and it's entirely possible that when the new Red Dead is announced, the company and publisher Take Two will also announce a launch date for it.

Another rumor claims that the coming title will be called Legends of the West and that it will have more than one central character that players can control.

Rockstar is at the moment working on adding more content for the Online mode of Grand Theft Auto V, which is getting more modes and extra cars and weapons.

Rumors are also saying that GTA VI is in the early stages of development, with the team currently working on choosing the city where the action will take place.
