14 DAY TRIAL // 1C Entertainment has built a massive catalog of retro games and some of them have been revealed over the weekend at Realms Deep 2021. We’ve already told you about Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2, which is launching on Steam in Early Access on October 28, so let’s take a look at another Lovecraft-inspired retro game, Forgive Me Father.
Developed by Byte Barrel, Forgive Me Father is dark retro horror FPS (first-person shooter) inspired by Lovecraft’s novels. It’s probably not a coincidence that the game will launch into Steam Early Access on the same day as Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2, October 28.
In Forgive Me Father, players step into the shoes of a priest or a journalist, as they face demons inside and out in a shooter inspired by classics from the ‘90s. Throughout the game, you’ll have to eradicate eldritch hordes and attempt to stay sane till the end. Visually, the game features hand-drawn graphics where every second looks ripped out of a comic book.
Gameplay-wise, there are a few surprise waiting for fans of the genre. For example, your madness level dynamically changes during the gameplay and gives you additional power. You will then be able to use active skills which you choose depending on your playstyle to fight against the evil.
Of course, each of the characters in the game have their unique development tree, but also a different perspective story-wise. Forgive Me Father promises a diverse world full of interesting enemies from possessed inhabitants to monsters from the worst nightmares.
And if the game gives you the vibes of a classic FPS from the 90s, it’s because of the timelapse animations, enemies and elements of 2D in a 3D environment. Also, there will be no need to reload your weapons. Forgive Me Father will be launched on Steam in Early Access on October 28, but fans of the genre can already wishlist the game.
