Smartphone manufacturers aren’t really very keen on innovating these days, but still, Samsung’s “edge” smartphone family are an example of atypical devices selling on the market nowadays, and LG also has the G Flex lineup which offers a curved, self-healing back.

And it seems that LG is getting ready to push forward another innovation. The LG V10 model has been spotted online before, previously making an appearance in China’s TENAA regulatory agency, when it was revealed that the phone would come with a peculiar secondary display living above the primary screen.

Now, serial leakster @evleaks has posted a press render giving us an idea of what the LG V10 might look like when it arrives on the market. It seems that LG plans to use the smaller secondary screen to display notifications, app icons or other details when the primary screen is turned off or running other applications.

Purported specs of the LG V10

According to previous leaked information, the LG V10 sports a 5.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) resolution. Hardware-wise, LG’s high-end smartphone is equipped with a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, just like the LG G4 flagship.

The company throws in 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot. Also, on the back side of the smartphone we can expect to see a 16MP camera with laser autofocus, dual LED flash and 4K video recording, while in the front there will be a secondary 5MP selfie camera.

The usual fingerprint scanner has been placed under the power button positioned on the back of the phone, right under the camera. Word on the street would have us believe that LG is prepping to unveil the smartphone during an October 1 event.

The company recently launched the LG Class in South Korea, a mid-range device coming with decent specs. The handset features a 5-inch display with 720p resolution and 294ppi. The Korean manufacturer has bundled the phone with a quad-core 1.2GHz processor on the inside, working in combination with 2GB of RAM.

By contrast, the LG V10 should be a higher-end device. We’ll keep an eye out for it when it arrives on the market.
