The CES 2017 event has recently ended and we’re already talking about who will take the stage during the next tech show, MWC Barcelona. The Mobile World Congress is set to start on February 27 and end on March 2, with many companies expected to showcase their latest flagships.

One of them is South Korean smartphone maker LG, which will announce its latest flagship, the G6. There has been much speculation regarding the new device and all rumors will be put to rest on February 26, when the phone will be unveiled during an LG conference.

Another major smartphone maker, Samsung, will showcase its latest flagship, the Galaxy S8, during the MWC show. However, the smartphone won’t be released until April, which means a two-month gap between the date when the phone is announced and the day when it will presumably hit stores.

Apparently, the delay is due to extended quality assurance testing, after the Note 7’s discontinuation. Fans won’t be pleased, but Samsung will have enough time to get consumers excited before the flagship hits stores.

The G6 will ditch the modular design

In order to capitalize on the momentum, LG will release its G6 flagship on March 10, according to ETNews, via PA. This means that the company will make the phone available less than two weeks after it’s announced. The device will be released in Korea first, with the global rollout set to follow soon afterward.

The situation was quite different last year, as Samsung released its Galaxy S7 and S7 edge first, on March 11, while the G5 arrived later on March 31. Seeing how the G5 didn’t do so well on the market, LG is certainly betting big on the G6, considering that it will bring some significant changes compared to its predecessor. The G6 will ditch the modular design found on the G5 and will feature the new 5.7-inch QHD LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio announced by LG today.
