LG recently conducted a study entitled “Searching for the Superhero Smartphone: A Small Body that Packs a Big Screen Punch.” The company surveyed thousands of smartphone users in the US and found that consumers are interested in the size of phones, long battery life and water resistance.

The study found that over 95% of smartphone users want devices with large screens, but small bodies so that they can be used with one hand and fit in small bags or pockets. Users also said that when holding smaller-sized phones with one hand, there’s a lower risk of dropping them.

Over one-third of people admitted that a dropped smartphone resulted in a cracked screen, while 75% of people wish their phones were more durable. In addition, LG says that smartphone users are looking for better durability, waterproofness and a longer battery life, all in a small body with a large display.

Metal body with soft matte finish on the G6

The study hints towards features packed in the upcoming G6 phone, considering that the device is rumored to come with a 5.7-inch Full Vision display, with 18:9 aspect ratio and 1,440 x 2,880 pixel resolution. This would allow for more content to be displayed and multitasking to be done in an easier way.

LG also promoted the G6’s waterproof features yesterday in a video and the company mentioned that the G6 would come with a full-metal body. Battery life is quite relative and depends heavily on usage. LG has yet to provide any details about the battery in its G6 phone, but rumors say that it could reach 3,200mAh, not exactly a groundbreaking capacity.

The study didn’t reveal anything about the phone’s design, but LG did release an interview with renowned industrial designer Torsten Valeur, who praised the phone’s minimalistic design and user experience, saying that the G6 “raises the bar in modern industrial design.” LG is definitely going out of its way to raise the hype around its G6, we just hope that it won’t disappoint.
