14 DAY TRIAL // The G5 is LG's first smartphone to receive the highly-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update. Even though the South Korean handset maker announced the world's first smartphone to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box, the V20 is only available in some regions.
We reported earlier this month that Sprint was the first carrier in the United States to roll out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the LG G5.
After testing the update in South Korea, LG has decided that it's time to bring some Nougat love to customers in the United States as well.
T-Mobile is now the second carrier in the United States to provide LG G5 owners with the Android 7.0 Nougat update. Many have already reported that they have successfully captured the update on their G5 units.
T-Mobile has yet to confirm the update, but we're going to offer you some important information before that happens. First of all, Android 7.0 Nougat is a fairly sizable update, so make sure you have enough storage before upgrading.
According to those who've already received Android 7.0 Nougat on their G5 phones, the file size of the update sits at around 1.3GB.
It's also worth mentioning that the update contains the November security patch, which was recently launched by Google.
To install the update, make sure the battery is fully charged, connect to Wi-Fi if prompted to download, and once downloaded select “Restart & Install.” The upgrading process will take between 15-30 minutes, so do not turn off the phone during this time.
If you haven't been notified of the availability and don't want to wait, you can check for the update by heading to Settings / General / About phone / Update center / System update / Check for update.
North America is the second region where LG has decided to release Android 7.0 Nougat for the G5, but we're certain the update will be rolled out globally in the coming weeks.
