Poland is the first country where the upgrade is available

LG was one of the handset makers that hardly offered critical software updates for its mid-range Android smartphones. However, the South Korean company always offers Android updates to its flagship handsets, but they were released very late most of the time.

This year LG was on top of its game and is now one of the few companies that released Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for many of its products.

We reported earlier this week that Sprint has already started the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for LG G Stylo, which is a mid-range smartphone.

Last month LG announced that it would offer Marshmallow to G3 owners sometime in mid-December. Unfortunately, the South Korean company missed that deadline as the update was not available for download until today.

No OTA update for the moment

The good news is Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now available for LG G3 devices in Poland. The update can only be downloaded via PC using LG Mobile Support Tool, so if you want the OTA (over the air) update, you will have to wait.

According to LG Poland, both 16GB and 32GB versions of LG G3 are eligible for the update, but once again, carrier-branded smartphones will have to wait for operators to release the upgrade.

LG is using Poland as a testbed for its software update, so we can safely assume that Marshmallow for G3 will be released in other countries if no major bugs are found in the update.

LG Poland did not mention anything about the changes included in this update, just that it's now available for download to all owners of LG G3 devices in the country (unlocked versions).

However, we can safely assume that aside from the usual improvements included in Android 6.0 Marshmallow, LG added its own. Let's hope the update will be released in other countries sooner rather than later.
