The G3 is one of the first smartphones launched by LG to receive the highly anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. We reported late last month that LG kicked off the rollout of Marshmallow for G3 in Europe.

Today, major US carrier Verizon has started to push the update to LG G3 device. The information comes via Reddit, so an official confirmation from Verizon has yet to arrive.

If you own a Verizon-branded LG G3, then you should look for the new firmware build MRA58K, which should upgrade the software to version VS98546A.

According to the cited source, the update pushed OTA (over the air) to LG G3 devices includes Google's latest security patch for January.

Unfortunately, not many Verizon customers captured the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on their LG G3 devices, which makes us believe that this might be a limited rollout meant to test the upgrade.

If that's the case, we expect a larger number of LG G3 owners to start receiving the update in the next couple of weeks.

Europeans devices have already received the update in December

LG launched Android 6.0 Marshmallow for G3 back in December, but as mentioned earlier, the update was only available in Europe.

Those located in European countries are probably happy that they are already running Android 6.0 Marshmallow on their LG G3 devices.

However, US carriers are a bit slower when it comes to software updates, so the fact that Verizon is among the first to provide Android 6.0 Marshmallow for LG G3 to its customers.

Once the final rollout begins in the United States, we expect more carriers to make Marshmallow available to its customers.

Since there's no official changelog available for this particular update, we can't tell what other improvements Marshmallow would bring to Verizon-branded LG G3 devices, so stay tuned for more info on this one.
