One of the many LG mid-range smartphones launched in the United States last year, the G Vista 2, has just been refreshed with a new major update that makes it even more tempting now.

AT&T has just announced that LG G Vista 2 is eligible for Android 6.0 Marshmallow update beginning this weekend. The smartphone was launched back in November with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, but LG did not say anything about a possible upgrade to Marshmallow.

Surprisingly, the US carrier confirmed the move on its support website and mentioned what changes users should expect from this update.

First of all, Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade brings lots of new features and improvements, including Material Design, Doze mode and application permissions.

On top of that, the carrier announced the update adds AT&T Video Call, which hasn't been enabled for the LG G Vista 2 until now.

The update shouldn't delete any data from your phone

Even though there shouldn't be any impact on settings and data after the upgrade, we recommend LG G Vista 2 users to back up their media files to an SD card, a PC, or using one of the Android applications available via Google Play Store.

It's also worth mentioning that AT&T will roll out this update in stages, so not all LG G Vista 2 devices might receive it at the same time.

If you haven't been notified of the update yet, you can manually check for it by heading to Settings / General / About Phone / Update Center / Software Update. If a new update is available for download, it will immediately show up on your phone.

Keep in mind that Android 6.0 Marshmallow for LG G Vista 2 is available via Wi-Fi connectivity, so you will have to connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network in order to download it.

It's unclear whether or not the update contains any of Google's monthly security patches, but AT&T confirmed this would upgrade the phone to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
