One year after launching the LG G Pad II 8.0, LG decided to unveil yet another tablet with the same jumbo size screen, the LG G Pad III 8.0, practically the successor to last year’s model. It seems that LG has found a market for tablets of such sizes and thus continues to perpetuate the series.

LG has just made the LG G Pad III 8.0 available in South Korea and Canada, according to Android Central. While the tablet certainly sports specs that are more powerful than its predecessor, it’s still no match for high-end tablets.

LG G Pad III 8.0 comes with an 8-inch Full HD LCD display and has a 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 617 CPU, which is more powerful than the 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor found on the LG G Pad II 8.0.

The screen has a 16:10 aspect ratio, instead of the more common 16:9 or 4:3. Still, considering the screen size, a lower aspect ratio should be a good compromise for users.

In addition to that, the LG G Pad III 8.0 has 2GB of RAM, only 32GB of internal storage and a microSD card for expanding the memory to 2TB.

It has an 8MP camera in the front, coupled with a 5MP shooter at the back. The tablet comes with support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and has a powerful battery of 4,800mAh. It runs Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box and comes with lots of features to make it easier to users to read e-books on the tablet.

The model bears the same name in Canada and in South Korea, but only offers 4G LTE connectivity in the latter country. Rogers and Fido retails the tablet in Canada for the price of $185 (€166).

The price for the LG G Pad III 8.0 reaches $275 (€247) in South Korea, with almost identical specifications. There’s no word yet on when the tablet will be available in other regions as well.
