Some hours ago, People Magazine released the preview for this week’s issue, which includes the cover artwork and excerpts from the interview / celebrity profile. Somewhat surprisingly, readers and the world at large found out that Khloe Kardashian had agreed to be on the cover and even to do a lengthy interview about Lamar Odom’s near-fatal drug overdose of a couple of weeks ago.

That she would break her self-imposed silence to dish out the details of Lamar’s condition, and thus make his health crisis all about herself, seemed hypocritical of her. Only some days ago, she had vouched to keep from talking to the press on any topic, even though she had a new book coming out.

Khloe Kardashian is angry you thought the worst of her

So within hours of her People cover coming out, Khloe was viciously criticized online for doing what a Kardashian does best at all times: take whatever situation they stumble upon and try to make money off it.

At least, that’s what it looked like from the outside: here was Khloe, posing as the grief-stricken estranged wife, putting her life on hold so she could save Lamar’s and boasting to the press about it, all because she had a new book to raise attention for.

Well, Khloe isn’t having any of this. In a series of very angry tweets, she’s setting the record straight on how the People interview came to be: it had been scheduled and conducted weeks in advance as part of what was supposed to be her promo tour for the book.

After Lamar’s OD, People asked for a brief phone interview on his condition, which she couldn’t refuse to do because she was contractually obligated. Instead of running the original interview with just one or two mentions of Lamar, People chose to work only on the Lamar angle.

“Shame on you all for thinking the worst of me,” Khloe says in another tweet. “It's been a tough few weeks. I don't need your [expletive]-ed up energy!”

She also hints that this will be the only interview she’ll be giving to promote the book.

Khloe and Lamar are still not together, by the way

When Lamar overdosed on “every drug imaginable,” he and Khloe had been estranged for over 2 years, but the divorce had yet to be finalized.

She rushed to be by his bedside in Las Vegas and then, as his wife, decided to have him moved to Los Angeles when he woke up from the coma. A couple of days later, he and Lamar filed a joint petition asking the court to throw out their divorce case, which triggered reports that they were getting back together.

They’re not, she tells People. Calling off the divorce was the most practical decision under the circumstances, for medical and legal reasons.
