The KDE Project announced today the release and general availability of the third and last maintenance update to the KDE Applications 19.04 open-source software suite series.

Launched on April 18th, 2019, the KDE Applications 19.04 open-source software suite series received a total of three maintenance updates, the last one being released today as KDE Applications 19.04.3, which fixes some remaining issues but also marks the end of life of KDE Applications 19.04.

KDE Applications 19.04.3 brings numerous changes across various of the included applications, but the most important changes are the fact that the Konqueror and Kontact apps no longer crash on exit when QtWebEngine 5.13 is used and the Python importer in the Umbrello UML app now supports parameters with default arguments.

Moreover, the Kdenlive video editor can now cut groups with compositions without the app crashing. The KDE Project says the more than 60 recorded bug fixes are included in the KDE Applications 19.04.3 point release to add more improvements to apps like Ark, Cantor, JuK, K3b, Kdenlive, Kontact, KTouch, Okular, Umbrello, and many others.

KDE Applications 19.08 arrives on August 15th

After KDE Applications 19.04 comes KDE Applications 19.08, which is currently in development with the "Dependency Freeze" stage in effect as of today, July 11th. The beta release should be available for testing next week on July 18th, and a Release Candidate (RC) version will be out on August 1st.

The final release of the KDE Applications 19.08 open-source software suite series arrives on August 15th. It will be supported with three maintenance updates until November 7th, 2019. Until then, we recommend updating your KDE desktops to the KDE Applications 19.04.3 point release as soon as the packages land in the stable software repositories of your favorite distro.

In related news, the KDE Project released the third maintenace update to the KDE Plasma 5.16 desktop environment series, KDE Plasma 5.16.3, a bug fix release that adds more than 30 changes. We recommend all those who use KDE as their default desktop environment to update to the KDE Plasma 5.16.3 and KDE Applications 19.04.3 as soon as possible.
