14 DAY TRIAL // Earlier this week, Jim Carrey’s on-and-off girlfriend, 28-year-old Cathriona White, was found dead at her home in Los Angeles, in an apparent suicide by overdose. It is believed that she took her own life after the actor broke it off with her only some days before.
Police sources have said that pills and a note to Carrey were found on the scene, with TMZ now claiming that some of the prescription drugs retrieved were actually in an alias Carrey is known to use. Celebrities often rely on aliases when seeking treatment and / or medication, to prevent word of it from getting leaked in the media.

According to the report, police believe that the cause of death is most likely overdose, but only a toxicology report will reveal which drug exactly killed White. Toxicology results won’t be back for another 5 weeks or so.
TMZ says that cops retrieved 3 bottles of pills in Carrey’s assumed alias, for Ambien, Propranolol and Percocet.
“Law enforcement tells us they've confirmed the prescription was written for Jim Carrey using an alias,” the report says. “One source tells us a witness has said there's reason to believe Cathriona may have taken the meds from Jim's house, but that hasn't been confirmed.”
Police want to interview the actor to determine the circumstances in which his pills, all of them prescribed by the same doctor, ended up in White’s house and at the scene of her death. TMZ tried to get in touch with Carrey for a comment on this, but his publicist wasn’t immediately available for calls at the time this went to press.
Breakup made her lose all hope
White and Carrey met and dated first in 2012, with her fresh in Los Angeles from Ireland. They rekindled their romance in May this year, but on September 24, the actor broke it off for unknown reasons.
On that day, White signed off on Twitter, leaving a message that, in retrospect, probably hinted at the desperate gesture she was about to make.
TMZ confirms with sources close to the investigation that it was the breakup that sent White over the edge. Apparently, right before taking her own life, she called friends to let them know that she was feeling “distraught” and completely blindsided by the breakup.
Five days later, she was found dead in her home, after 5 of the friends she’d confided in dropped by to check in on her, worried that they had not heard back from her.
