We reported last month that the US-based company InFocus planned to introduce the M812 Android smartphone in India on October 1. Well, it looks like there was a bit of a delay and the M812 got announced one week later.

The good news is customers in India can now purchase the InFocus M812 beginning this week for Rs 19,999 ($310 / €270) outright. Keep in mind, though, that the handset is exclusive to Snapdeal, so you won't be able to get it from anywhere else.

According to InFocus, the M812 is “the most iconic phone ever,” though we aren't sure why since the smartphone doesn't really stand out.

In fact, the M812 is quite weird because it comes with old hardware inside, which few handset makers still use onto their products.

It's kind of a mixed bag when it comes to hardware

InFocus M812 is equipped with an obsolete 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. On a more positive note, the smartphone packs 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

The phablet sports a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for extra protection.

There's also a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, true-tone LED flash, Sony Exmor sensor, and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

According to InFocus, the M812 ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box with InLife UI on top of it.

Connectivity-wise, InFocus M812 offers both 4G LTE and dual-SIM support, but also other options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with AGPS support and microUSB 2.0.

It's also worth mentioning that the smartphone features full metal unibody design, which is why InFocus considers the M812 a premium device.
