In order to prepare fans for the imminent release of inFamous 2, the sequel to 2008's impressive super hero game, Sucker Punch, the developer of the series, and famed comic book company DC Comics, have announced that a six-volume series will be launched.

In case you haven't been following the adventures of leading man Cole McGrath, he ended his adventure in Empire City at the conclusion of the original inFamous, and, depending on your choices, found out some pretty big details about his future.

Now, for the second game, Cole will be traveling to a brand new city, New Marais, inspired by New Orleans, and face off against new threats and enemies.

In order to tell fans what just happened between the conclusion of the original game and the start of inFamous 2, Sucker Punch and DC Comics have teamed up, and will release a six-volume comic book penned by William Harms and illustrated by artist Eric Nguyen.

"Spanning six heart-stopping volumes, the series will reveal sinister motives, dark secrets, and introduce a new threat to Cole and all of mankind," read the press release.

You can check out the first glimpse at the comic book up above, in the cover art drawn by Doug Mahnke, an illustrator that worked on famous DC Comics franchises like the Justice League of America, Batman or the Green Lantern.

The comic book series is set to start appearing next year, but don't expect a concrete schedule, as inFamous 2 has yet to be dated by Sucker Punch or Sony.

inFamous 2 will introduce new features besides the mechanics in the first game, as Cole will have access to a new melee weapon, as well as new powers based on his unique talent, which is to control electricity with his body.

New Marais has also been designed to be the complete opposite of Empire City, swapping out sky scrappers with more houses and even a swamp area, which will require Cole to switch up his tactics.

inFamous 2 will be released next year, exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
