Sony Worldwide Studios European vice president, Michael Denny, has just revealed that thanks to the company's global reach and network, first-party developers are working together and are reaching the console's full potential.

First-party developers are extremely important to any console, and Sony is really coming out with impressive titles ranging from God of War III to Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2, coming from studios all around the world.

This success, according to Denny, is due to Sony's global network, through which developers can still retain their identity, but also work together and share their ideas and know how in terms of development.

"A big philosophy behind forming Worldwide Studios is that we can have a network of key first-party developers who are able to share ideas, best practice, thoughts - creatively and otherwise." said Denny.

The executive emphasized this fact with an example including Sucker Punch, the developers of Infamous and the upcoming Infamous 2, and Naughty Dog, the studio behind the massively successful Uncharted, who are now working together to develop better titles.

"I think the success of these studios is that a lot of them retain their independent views and creativity but lean on each other for support."

These studios, which are now working together, are finally reaching the PlayStation 3's full hardware potential.

Besides that, through new technologies like the PlayStation Move motion detecting system, and the new 3D support incorporated through firmware updates, the console still has quite a lot of potential left and will keep on going for quite a while.

"What's exciting is that we're five years into PS3 and developers are really starting to push PlayStation to its full potential... Then you later on top of that Move launching, then you layer onto that the potential of 3D." said Denny. "It's exiting times to be involved in PlayStation."
