alcheMo helps convert J2ME application source code to equivalent application source code for iPhone

Innaworks is introducing alcheMo for iPhone, a fully automated solution for developers looking to work some code magic and deliver native iPhone apps using standard Java ME, CLDC 1.1/MIDP 2.0, as well as associated JSRs. alcheMo uses a patent-pending optimizing translator to convert J2ME (Java Platform, Micro Edition/Java ME) source code to equivalent source code for Apple's handset.

Predicting an even bigger interest in Apple's iPhone with the release of firmware 2,0 in June, as far as mobile developers are concerned, Innaworks is expecting the first mobile publishers to address the platform to "significantly benefit from their first mover advantage."

There's a bit of a problem surrounding the whole deal, however: "...the native iPhone programming language is Objective C, a computer language not commonly used in the mobile industry," says the specialist development tool vendor dedicated to solving critical industry-wide issues for the mobile game and application industry. "Innaworks presents alcheMo for iPhone, the world's first fully automated solution for developing native iPhone applications using standard Java ME, CLDC 1.1/MIDP 2.0 and associated JSRs."

Innaworks claims that devs will be able to leverage their existing programming talents, frameworks, and even game engines "to develop immersive and high-performance native iPhone games and applications in Java while taking advantage of the iPhone's unique features including accelerometer and touch screen," using (what else?) alcheMo.

alcheMo is currently aimed at devs looking to port mobile games to the iPhone, taking advantage of the handset's powerful processor, touchscreen functionality and, of course, its motion-sensing capabilities (through the iPhone's built-in accelerometer). We've seen some wicked stuff happening on that iPhone's screen and we can only imagine how popular mobile titles today can use the iPhone's input sensors to their advantage.

A private beta program for alcheMo is already available. Innaworks is inviting qualifying game publishers and game developers to join the program, who can "register their interest" right here.
