If you're already running iPhone software 2.0, it's high time you found out that you can easily take screenshots by just pressing the Home and Power button together. Your screens are saved in your Photos library for immediate use. Read on below for more details on this find.

"Running the new iPhone 2.0 software? Want to grab a screenshot of something? Turns out it's amazingly easy. Hold the Home button down, then tap the power button on the top of the phone. The screen will flash white, and that's it - the screenshot has been taken," Mac OS X Hints posts. If you want to view your picture afterwards, you only need to go to your iPhone's Photos app, and it will be revealed in your image library.

Months ago, "while working on the Caterpillar update," the RipDev team "discovered a fun fact - the SpringBoard can perfectly take screenshots without the help of 3rd party apps!" as they stated at the time. RipDev said all iPhone users had to add http://repository.ripdev.com/ to Installer.app, if they hadn't already, and install Apple Screenshot Enabler from the RiP Dev category.

As soon as users were done with these two steps, they could take screenshots by just holding down the Home button and toggling the Mute button. The screen would flash white and the screenshot would be taken and immediately saved in the Camera Roll, according to the team. "To take a screenshot, hold down Home (Menu) button on the phone and toggle the Mute button. The screen will flash and the screenshot will be saved to the Camera Roll. Simple as that!"- said the RipDev team back in March.

Users could also add the URL http://repository.ripdev.com to their Installer.app to be able to access "many interesting and useful iPhone apps from RiP Dev and their friends," the team stated at that time. In a modest approach, they even credited Apple for the iPhone's ability to take screenshots, settling for just being the ones to activate it: "Credit goes to Apple for implementing this... We just found how to activate and use it," they said.

Well, hats off to Apple again, this time for actually offering its support for taking screenshots by adding the Home + Power activation for the feature.
