For how long have you been using your iPhone longing to take screenshots? The SBMobileScreenshotr preference has always been there yet no one ever bothered to unlock its secrets. Until now, that is. The RipDev team has found a way to get it working for iPhone users, without having to install third party applications. You can take screenshots now!

"While working on the Caterpillar update, we've discovered a fun fact - the SpringBoard can perfectly take screenshots without the help of 3rd party apps!" says the team.

RipDev claims that all iPhone users need to do is add http://repository.ripdev.com/ to Installer.app (if they haven't already) and install Apple Screenshot Enabler from the RiP Dev category. That's all there is to it! As soon as you're done with these two steps, you can take your screenshots. Just hold down Home button and toggle the Mute button. Don't be scared when your screen flashes though. That means you've successfully taken your screenshot, which is saved immediately to the Camera Roll:

"To take a screenshot, hold down Home (Menu) button on the phone and toggle the Mute button. The screen will flash and the screenshot will be saved to the Camera Roll. Simple as that!"- says the RipDev team.

Also, if you add the URL http://repository.ripdev.com into your Installer.app, you'll be able to access "many interesting and useful iPhone apps from RiP Dev and their friends." Users need to launch Installer.app, go to the Sources section, click Edit (upper right corner) and then add (upper left corner). In the screen that appears enter: http://repository.ripdev.com. Click Done, then click Refresh and you'll be able to find the team's products in the RiP Dev category.

In a modest approach, the RipDev guys credit Apple for the iPhone's ability to take screenshots, settling for just being the ones to activate it: "Credit goes to Apple for implementing this... We just found how to activate and use it," says the team.
