In preparation for the IFA trade show that will take place in early September, Toshiba allowed some information ans pictures of its upcoming “iPad killer” to leak over to the web.

Since a certain trade show is approaching fast, certain companies are offering previews or preliminary info on some of the items they will put on display.

Toshiba, naturally, is not bound to miss it, having decided to hold off on new releases until IFA actually arrives.

This places it in contrast with LG, an outfit that decided to just go ahead and release some displays (one of which is an IPS-equipped 3D-ready item) now instead of later.

What Toshiba did was reveal the existence of a so-called “iPad Killer” tablet, though it refused to provide any more information.

Indeed, the only data available is what the folks over at Notebook Italia were able to uncover, which was definitely not much.

The device is set to be very thin, at least compared to other Toshiba slates so far revealed, and will employ micro-sized interfaces (micro-USB, micro-HDMI, microSD).

As for the internal hardware itself, one can only guess, although, fortunately, IFA is not far away (it takes place between September 2 and 7).

As such, those interested in this latest iPad foil can take heart in the fact that clarity will come sooner instead of later.

One might or might not remember that products with the self-appointed title of iPad killer appeared almost as soon as the Apple tablet itself.

What remains is to see if this new Toshiba slate really delivers on its claims and if its successors can carry on its role, since Apple is bound to keep changing its device as well.

Meanwhile, consumers can check out the Thrive tablet that Toshiba even had time to update, though worldwide availability is still encountering stumbling blocks.
