Fring, currently the only free mobile Group Video Call service in the world, is now available as an iPad-optimized application with support for group video calling, cross-platform support, drag & drop navigation, and more.

While FaceTime does a good job at connecting iOS device owners visually over WiFi, Fring does it four times better, by allowing up to four friends to see each other in a video conference, and not only via WiFi, but 3G too, if they prefer.

What’s even more of a blow to Apple’s video chatting standard is the fact that Fring works cross platform.

While FaceTime users are confined between the walls of Apple’s ecosystem (iOS and Mac OS), Fring users can call from iOS to Android devices, and vice versa.

The newest Fring release doesn’t stop here. It lets you easily drag and drop your contacts on the screen and have them show up where you want them to.

On the iPhone, Fring 5.1.1.2 now has Bluetooth support. Connectivity improvements have been carried out not just for the iPad, but for the iPhone and iPod touch as well.

The official changelog for the latest version of Fring can be found below.
