14 DAY TRIAL // Rumors about Huawei Watch's successor date from last month, but now we're confident that the smartwatch will be introduced in just a couple of days.
The so-called Huawei Watch 2 has just been leaked by the tireless leakster Evan Blass via VentureBeat. Not many details are known about the smartwatch, but we've got plenty of images showing the wearable device.
According to Blass, the sequel to the Huawei Watch will be officially introduced at MWC 2017 on February 26, along with the company's flagship smartphones, Huawei P10 and P10 Plus.
As expected, Huawei Watch 2.0 is an Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch, but more than that, it offers cellular connectivity. A nanoSIM card slot is part of the smartwatch, as seen in the picture above, so owners will be able to take and make calls without having to use their phones.
Little else is known about Huawei's smartwatch in terms of hardware. But we do know the wearable device will be available in multiple color options, including black, orange, and speckled gray.
No information about its price is available yet, but we won't have to wait too long for these details, as February 26 is just a few days away.
The Huawei Watch 2 won't be the only Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch to make its debut in the first half of the year. Its main competitors seem to be Google's new LG Watch Sport and Watch Style, which were officially introduced earlier this month.
However, Huawei's smartwatch has the advantage of cellular connectivity, though this specific feature might take its tall on the device's battery life. It remains to be seen what other features Hauwei has packed inside the Watch 2 in order to make it more appealing than the competition.
Google is determined to push Android Wear 2.0 as much as possible, hence the release of its own smartwatches built by LG. Other companies have joined Google's cause and will launch such devices in the coming months, including TAG Heuer and Casio.
