HTC has reportedly encountered a technical problem

A few days ago, HTC resumed the Android 7.0 Nougat rollout to HTC 10 smartphones in Europe, after it had previously halted the process due to some unknown bugs. HTC solved the issue quite quickly after it was rumored that three weeks would pass until the rollout would restart.

HTC already send out 7.0 Nougat software updates to HTC 10 smartphones in the UK, Russia, the Middle East and Turkey. But today, Graham Wheeler, Product and Service Director at HTC EMEA, announced that HTC had to pause the rollout in mainland Europe again because of a technical issue.

He didn’t specifically say what issue caused HTC to halt the rollout for a second time, but did mention that the software update would be pushed out again possibly in February.

Sony and ZTE have also paused Nougat rollout

HTC isn’t the only smartphone maker to run into difficulties, Sony and ZTE were also forced to halt the 7.0 Nougat rollout to their smartphones. Samsung briefly stopped the 7.0 Nougat rollout to Galaxy S7 and S7 edge phones, before restarting it later. There might actually be a larger problem at hand, but that’s difficult to say since none of the companies has disclosed anything about the issues that they encountered.

A few days ago, HTC started the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat to HTC 10 Lifestyle and One M9 smartphones in Europe. The next on the list for an update is HTC One A9, presuming that the company doesn’t encounter any issues with this rollout as well.

Android 7.0 Nougat is expected to bring new tools for HTC 10 devices, including reduced battery consumption, a new notifications area with quick reply, and multi-window mode for switching between several applications. In 7.0 Nougat, notifications are bundled to make it easier to spot and manage them.
