The HTC One A9 had been officially introduced in India late last month, but the Taiwanese handset maker did not mention when the smartphone would be available for purchase and for how much.

Today, HTC has confirmed that its One A9 mid-range smartphone will go on sale in India on December 15 for Rs 29,990 outright, which is about $450 or €410.

That's not too expensive since the smartphone was launched in the United States for $400, but only because HTC ran a promotion for a limited time.

According to HTC, the recommended retail price for the One A9 should be $500, and many retailers and carriers are already selling it for that price, some for even more.

Customers anxious to grab HTC's latest addition to the One family should know that the One A9 will be exclusively available through Snapdeal retailer.

If you want to be sure that you will be able to buy the smartphone, you must register on the retailer's website starting December 9 at 9:00 am IST. HTC One A9 will be available in India in two color options: Carbon Gray and Pearl Silver.

64-bit CPU and Marshmallow in tow

As many of you probably know by now, the One A9 strongly resembles the iPhone when it comes to design. Hardware-wise, the smartphone is pretty decent thanks to its octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor and Adreno 405 graphics processing unit.

It's unclear which version of One A9 will sell in India, either the 2GB RAM and 16GB storage model, or the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory variant.

Both of them pack 13-megapixel rear-facing cameras with phase detection autofocus, BSI sensor, OIS (optical image stabilization), as well as secondary 4-UltraPixel cameras in the front.

HTC One A9 sports a 5-inch AMOLED display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 coating.

It's also powered by a 2,150 mAh battery that features Quick Charge 3.0 technology. More importantly, the One A9 ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box.
