We're not sure whether or not HP Elite X3 will be announced at this year's Mobile World Congress trade fair, but we're sure that many Windows Phone fans are anxious to get their hands on one.

The Elite X3 leaked a few months ago as HP Falcon, but at that time it wasn't set for release yet. Fortunately for Windows Phone users, HP decided to bring the flagship smartphone to the market, which is why we've been able to get more details on the upcoming device.

As many of you probably know by now, HP Elite X3 is a top-tier smartphone that comes with powerful hardware inside, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and USB Type-C port.

On top of that, the Elite X3 boasts a massive 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

However, if you still find the phablet's display too small for your needs, you will be pleased to know that Elite X3 will come with a laptop accessory that allows you to expand the screen, MSPU reports.

HP's flagship smartphone might be every Windows Phone fan's dream

It's called Mobile Extender and will offer an additional 12.5-inch display that you will be able to work on, as well as its own battery. The accessory is said to work over USB Type-C or Miracast and will weigh about 1kg (2.2lb).

Furthermore, the Elite X3 will be capable to run virtualized desktop apps via Continuum for Phones, as HP will provide access to these apps via HP Workspace.

The information is confirmed by ITPro blog, which posted a review of the smartphone ahead of its official reveal. Although the review has been pulled, the article remains in Google Cache as spotted by NPU. Here is an excerpt from the review:

“HP Inc has added an extra dimension to Continuum with the HP Workspace app. This allows you to run virtualised desktop apps hosted off a server on the X3 when the phablet is in Continuum mode. However, it’s currently not clear if it will work with all popular hypervisors or only some of them.”

Last but not least, HP's phablet will come bundled with a Desk Dock that packs USB Type-C, two USB 3.0 ports, a Display port and Ethernet connectors, along with a Kensington security slot.
