The smartphone will be available in China

Huawei has debuted the Honor 5A smartphone at a recent event held in China. The CEO has stated that the Honor 5A is suitable for younger consumers, as it falls into the entry-level range of handsets that do offer satisfactory specs while their main focus remains the affordable price. Moreover, the device’s specs have also been revealed during the event.

The Honor 5A has been released during an event held in Beijing, and it sports an octa-core Snapdragon 617 chipset clocked at 1.5GHz, according to Tech 163. This particular chip is found on many mid-range smartphones on the market, including the Moto G4 Plus.

Honor 5A will come in multiple variants, including China Mobile and dual Netcom versions that use Huawei’s octa-core Kirin 620 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz. The smartphone provides 2GB of RAM, together with 16GB of expandable storage.

It will pack a 13MP rear camera with 5P lens, 28mm wide angle shooting, and 7cm macro. The front camera will have 5MP with 4P lens, f/2.0 aperture, and blue glass filters to reduce flare. Battery capacity is quite satisfactory: 3,100mAh with power saving 3.0 feature that should provide enough power for a full day.

The smartphone’s price will start at $106

Honor 5A measures 154.3 x 77.1 x 8.45cm and weighs 168 grams. It has a plastic body and metal frame, and it comes in 6 different colors, namely White, Gold, Yellow, Pink, Blue, and Black. The handset will have a 5.5-inch display with 720p resolution, with a contrast ratio that reaches 1000:1, 178-degree wide viewing angles, as well as Aluminum Silicon tempered glass. The display also has pixel level adjustment under sunlight.

The device is said to come with hardware security features that protect the device from illegal access, suspicious URL, and even theft.

Pricing for the Honor 5A has also been revealed. Thus, the variant at China Mobile should cost $106 while the full network and the dual Netcom version will feature a price tag of $121. Fans can register for the first sale of the Honor 5A on June 17 at JD.com and Huawei’s online store in China.
