Video game developer Dambusters Studio and publisher Deep Silver are announcing that they are creating an entirely new mode for the upcoming Homefront: The Revolution, called Resistance, which is designed to deliver a cooperative experience for those who pick up the title in May of this year.

Gamers will be able to create their own Resistance Cell with friends or using the matchmaking system and then find new ways to take out the military units of the Korean People's Army who are invading the territory of the United States of America.

Resistance Mode for Homefront: The Revolution will allow those involved to unlock new skills for their characters, acquire weapon blueprints, pick up rare gear and other equipment as they face new types of challenges.

The development team says that it wants to keep the new mode interesting for players in the long term via a post-launch support program that will deliver new missions for all those interested for free.

Four-player cooperative elements are among the hottest trends for modern shooters, and Homefront: The Revolution is both a sign of the ambition of the team at Dambusters and the fact that they are facing a lot of competition in the genre.

The game is set to arrive on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony on May 17 in North America and on May 20 in Europe, after a series of delays designed to make sure that it offers a quality set of gameplay mechanics.

The Revolutionary Spirit pack is offered to all those who place a pre-order for Homefront: The Revolution.

A beta is coming to the Xbox One

The core game mechanics featured in a testing period for Homefront: The Revolution that will run on the Xbox One home console from February 11 to 14, with gamers able to take part only if they secure a token that the publisher and Microsoft will be offering in the coming days via some promotion events.

Resistance Mode will be shown from those who have registered on the official site can also take part in closed beta stress tests that will take place on January 29 and on February 5, mostly to test the infrastructure that powers the cooperative experience.

Homefront: The Revolution trails Ethan Brady as he seeks to find new ways to take out the KPA and to restore freedom to the city of Philadelphia.

The development team is using an open world structure for the title and says that it will ask gamers to choose between head-on confrontations and sneak tactics as they seek to move from district to district and take out occupiers.

A system of zones, ranging from green to red, will present different types of challenges and environments, with players having to assassinate high-ranking figures in the safest locations without attracting attention and also stage ambushes for KPA troops in the ruins of some locations.

Homefront: The Revolution will feature more character progress than the previous installment and a deeper set of mechanics for multiplayer.
