The development team at Blizzard has already announced that it is working on a major new expansion for Hearthstone, called Whispers of the Old God, but before it arrives, players can play a new patched version of the card game and can also use a new hero, a Paladin called Liandrin.

Patch 4.2.0.12051 introduces some changes to the game, all of which can be seen by clicking on the button at the end of this article, and gamers will find that they have double the number of maximum deck slots and that they can use deck recipes to decide how they can play a particular hero.

The new characters that are coming to Hearthstone is named Liadrin and is a female Paladin that can only be unlocked by those players who are willing to level a character of their own in the World of Warcraft MMO that Blizzard also maintains.

The card game also now features new card backs, the Hogger, unlocked by players who get to rank 20 during March, and Overwatch, which, as the name implies, will be offered to all those who pick up the Origins Edition for the new team-based shooter from Blizzard.

Whispers of the Old Gods is coming in early May at the latest

Blizzard has said that the major new content drop for Hearthstone might actually go live before the end of April, introducing no less than 134 new cards for gamers to get and use and the most dedicated of fans can now pre-purchase it to get a special card back.

The expansion is focused on four powerful forces that are invading the world of the card game, and it seems that the new tactics that they will open up are focused on mutations and monsters, although the full list of cards has not yet been revealed.

When Whispers of the Old Gods is out, Hearthstone will also introduce the split between Standard and Wild play, which is designed to offer the most competitive gamers a mode that keeps the experience tight and balanced while also giving more adventurous fans access to a mode that allows them to showcase their entire collection of cards.

The Blizzard card game has quickly become one of the most interesting titles created by the studio and a major source of revenue and now it seems that the company is eager to use it to make sure that fans also try out Overwatch and World of Warcraft.
